Who Are We?
It all started with a high school shop class making a cutting board and end table. That shop class was where a passion was born. In the years to follow I took on projects refinishing furniture and making small items as a hobby. I joined the Navy in 2016 where I spent the next 4 years on active duty. In my spare time I began tackling bigger projects such as a coffee table, a crib, and changing table for our newborn in 2019. I was constantly telling my wife “I could do this every day”.
Between my active time, while in the reserves, Gundeck Woodworking was formed. I struggled to finding a job that felt meaningful and purposeful to me. Something that I truly enjoyed doing and would also support my family financially. It wasn’t until I bought my first home that I realized that I should chase the passion that brings me solace, woodworking. The joy that I get from building quality furnishings that will likely be around long after I’m gone, is truly a purpose I didn’t know I was looking for.
